Why we do it …
Before David joined us he attended Bradford college and studied in the Carpentry and brick laying course. Unfortunately David did not enjoy the amount of people on the course or feel as though it was right for him. David has always been interested in catering and heard that aspire igen opened up a catering course, and the rest is history.
David has spent the past year studying in a NVQ level 2 diploma in hospitality services. As part of his experience on the course David has attended work placement at provident for 4 weeks as a kitchen assistant, preparing meat, fish and salads.
As well as this David played an integral role in some of our recent events. These include cooking and serving for 75 delegates at last year’s annual Inspiring women changemakers awards as well as preparing the canapes for our annual aspire 2 work awards, which was attended by the lord mayor. .
David has thoughrally enjoyed the course and now knows that catering is where he wants to make his future. David had this to say about our Cookery school and cafe…
“I liked the atmosphere as it feels more personal. I feel I have learnt more as a result. It’s less like a classroom and much more hands on. I feel more positive about the future and would recommend the course to others.
Now David has achieved all his targets and passed his qualification, he is now working as a kitchen assistant at a local cafe.
We couldnt be prouder of you Dave!
